Welcome!
Near and Far is where a globe trotting, East Coast girl makes a home in Montana. I call Virginia home, but am settling in Montana with a boyfriend and two dogs. You'll see the pupsters on the blog from time to time as they entertain us greatly and we think they're pretty adorable. As a kid, I told my parents I was going to marry the boy across the street and we were going to have a ranch/farm with horses, chickens, vegetables and all sorts of other things. Funny how I didn't marry the boy across the street, but here I am living that life, sans horses. The boyfriend is super handy and I'm learning as I go. Though I'll always be a Virginia girl at heart, my love for Montana runs deep. In that spirit, you'll find a Made in Montana series here, featuring people, places and business that I think are really great and make Montana the wonderful place it is.
Adventures at the HomesteadHop over to the blog to check out our new house and what we're doing to make it our own. It started with some horrible carpet and wallpaper, complete with an outhouse in the back, but has amazing views of the mountains and plenty of land for the puppies, cats, chickens and sheep to roam. We're also growing our own vegetables, maybe some fruits and hopefully I'll have a flower garden too!

Travel JournalI'm doing something I never thought I'd do -- putting down roots. But, I can't quite kick the travel bug. It's a big world and I want to see as much of it as I can! Though we bought a house and are settling down, I'm still hoping to visit at least one foreign country per year. You can find my past travel adventures here, as well as future travel plans and other thoughts and tips on travel.
