The last week was spent with family and friends. A girl couldn't ask for anything better. I have the best friends.

I was all ready to post this and then realized it was Tuesday. But, figured, motivation is good every day so I'll post it anyway. I'm home in Virginia with my parents and it's always so nice to come home and recharge. And also to be reminded of how as a kid I wanted to go out into the world and make it better. Now, I'm in the world, and I have work to do. Source: Uploaded by user via Jenn on Pinterest To go along with this, I give you a Sugarland song that from the moment I first heard it have loved it. I play it loudly in the car when I need a boost or sometimes I sing it to myself when I'm running. It is quite possibly my favorite song ever. Either way, you have a voice, use it for good. One of my dear friends, Jeannette, sent me a letter full of inspiring words awhile back. In it, she had written this quote on an index card. In my Virginia townhouse, it was taped to the wall in my bathroom where I saw it every morning as I got ready to face the day. Now, it sits in the top of my jewelry box on the counter so I still see it every day. It's a great quote and a true motivator. There are things we are meant for and we must achieve them. We may not do the things Marie Curie did, but people are counting us to attain those things we are gifted for. Happy Monday all and here's to the start of a great summer month!
I really love this. Dreams are a much better motivator. Credit goes to the DC Ladies for the find. And Emerson is my man.
This is pretty much my life mantra. And this week's Monday Motivation is dedicated to my dear friend Markeshia over at Too Thrifty Chicks who just "pulled a Jenn" and made a massive life change. I'm super proud of her and very excited to see what she comes up with! Source: quotebites.com via Jenn on Pinterest Source: 25.media.tumblr.com via Pamela on Pinterest Such a great quote! Can't tell you how many times I've gone out of comfort zone, been all kinds of turned around and unsure, but always find my way.
When I went to South America for the first time, friends and family thought I was nuts. When I arrived in Lima, not my favorite city, exhausted from the flights and not speaking the language, I went straight to my room at the hostel and cried for a bit. I was feeling like maybe I had bit off more than I could chew on this particular adventure. Then I pulled myself together, thinking, "You can do this. You are not going to waste this trip hiding in your room. Spanish or no Spanish, you have got this." Then I grabbed my cleverly disguised Lonely Planet guide and phrasebook and headed into the city. Though Lima remained my least favorite city in Peru, the trip was one of my favorites. It's also a wonderful thing to learn to rely on your intuition. It's harder to hear it and need it while hanging out in your comfort zone. Outside of that, you learn to trust yourself and how to make your way out there in the great big world. Plus, I really enjoy knowing I can hop a plane to just about anywhere and even if I don't speak the language, I'm not afraid of that unknown because my intuition and traveler brain is tried and true. There's a lot you can do when you're not worried about everything going off the rails and when you're not a Monday Motivation is back! What makes you come alive? For me it's good journalism, newspaper things, working with veterans, helping young or new to the beat journalists with military reporting, outdoor adventures, travel, making new friends, figuring out all the things we can do with our new house, getting to know my new state of Montana, time with family and friends.
