After a few tough weeks, things were looking up this week. It was busy and involved racing from one story to the next in rapid succession, but after it all, I fell content. And this quote is the perfect fit for the week, though I've posted it before.
Sometimes that work isn't glamorous. It's before the sun rises mornings, it's working till well after sundown, not always getting to do what's fun because you have to do what's needed. It's sitting through meetings, every single time, no matter how boring or tedious. It's having conversations about the least sexy of topics, like sign code or federal grants. What is it they say, 90 percent of success is showing up.
It's in doing the work, every day. It's in showing up. It's in getting it right, building trust and not just expecting the world to know how good you are at what you do. It's in earning it.
This week was one of those that proved once again that doing the ground work, the down and dirty, the out of the spotlight, far from glamorous work that you get to reap your harvest when it matters and do a little victory dance.
Why? Because you earned it. And honest truth, few things feel better than knowing you deserve it.
